Life is Sweet!
Whether it gets to you from the back of our bike or you find it in your favorite grocer’s freezer section, you can be sure you’re eating all-natural products without preservatives, emulsifiers, stabilizers, or other multi-syllabic chemicals.
Go! Ice Cream was founded by Rob Hess on the belief that dessert is a good thing, a sweet enhancement to a life well-lived. His goal is to bring more flavor to life through bold versions of classic ice creams and adventurous new flavor combinations.
This includes flavors such as the unexpectedly dynamic Three-Bean Vanilla (woody! smoky!) or Sweet Browned Butter (caramel-y! nutty), or any of our sauces and toppings that are as unusual as they are delicious.
Our hand-crafted ice creams take a little longer to make, and every batch is just a little different from the batch before. But it makes for truly great ice cream. This is ice cream you feel good about eating. This is ice cream that a whole city can be proud of.
These are flavors that move you.
The Way Back Machine
How did Rob start all this, you ask? It was very glamorous right from the beginning! Just kidding. It totally wasn’t.
In 2011, he started making ice creams at home, experimenting with flavors and learning everything he could about how ice creams are made. By 2013, he’d purchased an old Worksman tricycle, outfitted it with a cooler, and was using the bike to sell ice cream at the local Ypsilanti farmers’ market, and pedaling around town to deliver ice creams through neighborhood delivery.
More in a Store!
In 2015, Rob knew he had a great problem on his hands: People wanted more of his ice cream (yay!) but he didn’t have the capacity to produce it (boo!). So in order to meet growing demand, Rob started the process of renovating a historic building in downtown Ypsilanti. Today, in the Go! Ice Cream Alley Store, Rob has his own commercial kitchen and a storefront where he can serve tasty treats to customers.
We’re so excited that the Go! Alley Store is now open, and we welcome you to visit us in person!
